    What We Do

Interventional radiology is a medical specialty that involves performing image-guided, minimally invasive procedures utilizing CT scan, ultrasound and fluoroscopy. These procedures are performed safely and efficiently in the outpatient setting. Interventional radiologists work closely with a patient's primary care physician or specialist to ensure the patient receives the best possible coordinated, efficient and quality care. The procedures they perform can be for diagnostic purposes, for therapeutic treatment or to support a patient’s treatment. They include:

    Diagnostic Procedures:

    • Biopsies
    • Fluid aspirations

    Therapeutic Procedures:
    • Varicose vein treatment
    • Uterine fibroid treatment
    • Vertebroplasty (treatment of painful osteoporotic compression fractures)

    Treatment Support Procedures:
    • Venous access: chest ports for chemotherapy and catheter placement for dialysis.

Some advantages of interventional radiology include:

    • Risk, pain and recovery time are significantly reduced
    • Procedures can be performed without an overnight hospital stay
    • General anesthesia is not required
