Giving Back

WESTMED Gives Back

WESTMED’s mission statement —“to enhance the health of our community”— reflects not only our commitment to quality, efficiency and service for our patients, but also, in the broader sense, to our host community.

Below are some of the ways we have worked to give back to the nonprofit organizations in our community and show good corporate citizenship. Some of the highlights are:

—Our support of nonprofit organizations in the community, whose goals range from fighting heart disease and cancer and showing disadvantaged young people in the community that people care.

—Our presentation of free health and wellness talks on a variety of topics to the community, including a monthly diabetes support group, one-night smoking cessation classes, “Look Good..Feel Better" classes offered in conjunction with the American Cancer Society and our “Miracle of Breastfeeding” classes.

Thanks to our physicians and employees for giving of their time and talents to make our presence felt in significantly helpful ways.

Supporting the Community in 2016

Cottage School

On Saturday, September 24th, WESTMED hosted a “Field Day” event at the Cottage School in Pleasantville, NY. The school’s mission is to meet the needs of at-risk youth and children of all ages by providing a safe haven to attend school and lead a healthy existence. Often, these children are the unfortunate product of abuse and neglect whose families struggle with poverty. A large group of WESTMED volunteers were part of this very special day and helped bring some joy to the lives of at-risk children in a day of laughter and good times.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

WESTMED employees and physicians make an incredible effort to support the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk held annually at Manhattanville College. This year, WESTMED placed in the top six Westchester companies for fundraising. From our office locations, there was an outpouring of creative fundraising ideas leading up to the walk, such as bake sales and book sales, with all proceeds donated to ACS’s Making Strides.

Westchester Heart Walk

For nearly 10 years, the practice has supported the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk in the Fall at Kensico Dam in Valhalla. Again this year, we were proud to be a sponsor.
