One in 5 travelers developed a cold within 2 weeks of flying, a study of 1,100 airline passengers found. Study participants were flying from San Francisco to Denver. What makes an airplane so “germy”?

 

The headrest is the dirtiest section of the airplane, followed by the seat belt, tray table and air vent.

 

What to do?  Keep hand sanitizer gel or wipes in your pocket. And set that air vent to aim at your chest, not at your face.
