New Federal Task Force Seeks 'Quantum Leap' for Cancer Cure
President Barack Obama has created what has been dubbed the “White House Cancer Moonshot Task Force” headed by Vice President Joseph Biden. The goal of the task force is to double the rate of progress on cancer treatment and prevention and to make the best use of federal dollars to support it. Its first meeting is slated for Monday, February 1.
Among the agencies involved are the National Institutes of Health, the Defense Department and the FDA.
The task force will submit a report on its findings to President Obama at the end of December 2016 before he and Vice President Biden leave office.
