Sleep Apnea Treatment at WESTMED

WESTMED currently has two Sleep Centers to evaluate patients with sleep disorders—one at 3030 Westchester Avenue, Purchase and the other at 33 Davis Avenue, White Plains.

A  primary care physician or specialist may order a sleep study for a patient to help diagnose symptoms of sleep apnea, daytime sleepiness, snoring, witnessed apnea, obesity (BMI > 30), difficult-to-treat hypertension, periodic limb movements, restless leg syndrome, difficulty sleeping and excessive fatigue.

Sleep apnea, for example, is a serious sleep disorder that occurs when a person’s breathing is interrupted during sleep. Continuous positive airway pressure therapy, or CPAP, helps patients with sleep apnea breathe better during sleep by pushing air into the nose through a mask to keep airways open.

Dr. Bruno DiCosmo, WESTMED sleep specialist, pulmonologist and critical care specialist, directs the operation of WESTMED’s Sleep Centers.   Both have two beautifully appointed bedrooms, providing a comfortable environment to evaluate sleep problems.   All tests are read/overseen by a board-certified sleep physician.
